I've seen people do photo-manips of various redheaded actresses standing in for Lily Evans/Potter, but I've never seen anyone use Rachel Hurd Wood. Erik and I just watched Perfume (odd film, but it had great costumes, an amazing score, and [most importantly] Alan Rickman!), and I thought Rachel Hurd Wood, who plays Alan Rickman's daughter, would make a great Lily Evans. (I know it's a little strange, considering the relationship they portrayed in the film, but work with me here.) That's part of the reason why I made a little manip using an image of young Snape. My only problem is that I could find NO nice, big, high-res photos of young Snape, so the image ended up a little small.  If anyone can point me to some high-res photos of young Snape, I'd really appreciate it!

I should be writing, but I'm feeling stressed-out and cranky, so I figured this was a slightly better use of my time than watching TV. :-P

She's a good Lily - and I keep meaning to watch Perfume.

It's definitely worth renting. After all my Snape obsession lately, it was sort of weird to watch Alan in something where he was so definitely NOT Snape-ish!

Wow, this is a convincing Lily and certainly a convincing manipulation over all. Good job. Oh Gods and Severus' expression breaks my heart. I never feel pity for him as an adult but I do pity him as a youngster. I was always sceptical about his love for Lily though. His feelings seem to me more of a greatful attachment because she is one of very few who tries to be nice to him. A puppy love if you will? I was never at ease with the big love idea.

Well, I just think that JKR tried to take the easy way out with the whole "lifelong love" thing with Snape. You do feel for him as a young lad, though...I keep thinking there's gotta be an alternate universe out there where Lily realizes what a prat James really is and goes with Snape instead!

JK is an awesome fantasy writer but she is horrible with romance brewing. Somehow all her romances are not even remotely romantic. They're sad at best and rather unbelievable. Nor am I particularly grateful with her continuously using Severus for 'easy outs' like wands misconceptions and such...

Girl, you just volunteered to make me happy. Go write AU fanfic where Lily dumps James. I wonder if James was a complete prat because he was jealous that Lily might like Severus more.

James is not the guy I dislike the most in HP series but he is top 3 simply because he reminds me of some crap in my past. In grade two I was transferred to a new school and the teacher during the first class made me sit beside this girl who wanted her best friend to sit there. Also this teacher had no policy of allowing people to change sits because she had names mapped out on a piece of paper. Anyway, this idiot girl instead of blaming the teacher got pissed off at me and decided it might be fun to make my life miserable and also to convince people who sat around us to do the same. So, I ended up in 50% of the classes with my friends sitting on the opposite end of the classroom and me right in the middle of a group that hated my guts. I was seething by the end of the year. Anyway, when I see James and his gang bugging Severus there are all these signals flashing in my head screaming bullies. I feel pity for Sevvy because he doesn't have the same devious creativity to extract vengeance as I did. >.D

Maybe it's too much to expect her to be great at writing romance in addition to everything else, but it still irks me. Oh, well.

Ack, not another plot bunny! I don't have time to write everything I want to now! (Although at least something like that would probably be pretty short.)

Isn't school fun? :-P I hate intractable teachers like that. If I'd had a student who came up to me and said they'd like to be moved and gave a cogent reason why, I wouldn't have a problem with it. I guess we all need that childhood trauma to make us fun and angsty as adults.

Relax, relax. Just because you see a bunny doesn't mean you have to stew it right away. Just take a note of the woods where you saw him for the future reference.

Um.. cogent reason from a 7 year old? I can picture it about like so:

Student: Teacher, can I move?
Teach: Why?
Stu: Because people I sit with hate me?
Teach: You have to learn to get along with others.
Stu: =(((( *sulk*

After hearing numerous arguments for Snape/Lily thing I still don't buy it fully. If Snape works for Dumbledore, then he needs to have at least one spark of belief in something good about humanity. I very much doubt there is anything in his life that could have produced happy memories to sustain that spark. The only thing I see is Lily who tried to be nice to him, more or less. If he lets go of her memory there wouldn't be any substitute. Thus the illusion of eternal love.

Did I send you the Perfume score? If not, I totally must. :D It's really pretty! I must rent the movie.

Very pretty manip. I gotta say, Young Snape was pretty good-looking (I actually said 'Wow' during that scene in OotP; Jason was like DUDE: WEAK).

Oh, no, I've had it from you for ages! (It's what I wrote most of "Sympathy" to!)

Yeah, I would have definitely had a thing for Young Snape back in the day. Lily was an idiot, IMHO. But it was fun playing in Photoshop.

Oh, and guess what? I gave Samhain the heave-ho this morning. I'd just finally had enough of their asshattery. (The latest: letting an author choose to use "blond" or "blonde"...never mind if the character they're describing is female! Oh, and quotes inside punctuation for quoted remarks. And the sudden abandonment of the serial comma. Do I need to go on?)

I have this overwhelming feeling of relief. ;-)
