Gee, I can't imagine what might have prompted this particular writer's block question. :-P

My answer to this question should be pretty obvious, but it is true that I'm a writer of fanfic, not a reader. Heck, I barely find the time to read pro novels. It's also true that I'm not writing as much fic as I used to, but I love the idea of fanfic. I love that it exists. I love that I can explore the more obscure areas of canon, or write "what-ifs," or bring characters back from the dead if I want to (yeah, I'm looking at you, JKR and Terminator and 24 writers).

I still don't quite know why some authors have such an issue with it. I'd like to think I'd be honored if someone ever wrote fanfic for one of my novels...although I'm pretty sure I wouldn't read it, for a variety of reasons. Doesn't mean I'd stop someone from writing it, though.

"How Soon Is Now" by the Smiths. Best. Song. Ever. Loved it ever since I first heard it in high school. And if you have to ask why, then you've never heard it. :-P

(Actually, it's the guitar effects. How the hell did they even do that?)

[Error: unknown template qotd]At this point, I'd happily eat a (non-poisonous) bug for a million dollars. At least that way I could quit my crappy-ass job.

[Error: unknown template qotd]This actually did happen to me. My job in high school was as a page at the public library, and one day while we were cleaning up, a friend of mine who also worked there and I found $100 shoved behind some books. We did turn it in, but no one claimed it, so after 30 days we got $50 each. Honesty really does pay off!

[Error: unknown template qotd]Mulder and Scully! Anyone who's read my writing knows I'm a big fan of the slow burn. :-P

Second fave is probably Aeryn Sun and John Crichton. Man, I miss Farscape...

[Error: unknown template qotd]Not really. Actually, I'm finding the hysteria kind of amusing. Maybe it's because I don't think I've ever had the actual flu. Common cold, a stomach bug once or twice, but full-on flu? Not so much. Actually, it would be great if they cancelled the recreation classes out of fear of contagion -- then I wouldn't have to deal with a bunch of noisy, germy kids and their parents invading the building at regular intervals.

Actually, I'm just answering this question so I can post macros.

I'm going to blather about writing and fanfiction, so I think I'll put the rest of this behind a cut so as not to inundate the good people on my f-list who don't really care. :-P

Lightbulb moment! )

[Error: unknown template qotd]Definitely U2's Joshua Tree tour concert at the Coliseum back in 1987. I think it was the most stirring and emotionally involving live show I've ever seen. And the crazy thing was that there were 100,000 people at that concert, and I ended up sitting two rows back from my older brother, who I didn't even know was going!

[Error: unknown template qotd]Hahahahahahahahahahaha!

I seriously don't know how many pairs of shoes I have. In my closet right now I think I have about fifty. But there are also my "winter" shoes that are now in storage in the basement, along with two boxes of shoes I use for costumes and therefore don't need to keep anywhere close at hand. Most of them were lucky finds I refuse to part with, because seriously, what are the odds of finding another pair of embroidered black leather granny boots at Ross for only $19.99? Exactly.

Altogether, if I had to make a stab at it, I'd say I have about 150 pairs. Hey, it's cheaper than drugs, and at least you have something to show for the money you spent....
