...when you're glad Christmas is over. :-P

Seriously, I had a nice time and everything, but what with all the running around and the food preparation and house clean-up and all that jazz, I'm just happy I don't have to deal with this crap for another year. It's probably going to take me that long to recover.

I was just going through the photos from Glendora's Christmas parade (it was held last Saturday), and came across this. What can I say -- I'm a sucker for cute doggy shots. :-)  (Ignore the fat trucker in the background.) :-P

Of course, the food poisoning didn't help.

Now, I don't know for sure that's what it was...could've been a horrible 24-hour stomach bug. But I started getting sick at my sister's party on Saturday night (it was a potluck contributed to by a bunch of people, so who knows what was going on with some of the food), spent most of the evening puking, spent Christmas Eve day flat on my back and watching television (thank God they actually show decent movies on holidays since I guess the programmers figure everyone's stuck at home or something), took it mostly easy on Christmas Day, and was pretty much myself by last night...at least enough that I could sit down and enjoy a nice dinner with my husband. But I didn't get to see much family beyond the ones I saw on Saturday (my sister, my mom, and my brother), and I feel like I just got cheated out of my holiday (which, true to suck-ass SoCal form, was unseasonably warm...one good thing about not wanting to go outside...at least I didn't have to experience the evil of an 80-degree Christmas first-hand. I just stayed inside with the curtains drawn).

I know it had to be something my system really, really didn't like, because I also had horrible muscle aches everywhere and was running a fever of 99.5 (my usual temp's right at 98). On the upside, I feel OK now...just a little bit shaky, but I'm trying to get stuff accomplished anyway because I have the day off and feel as if I don't want to waste it. And Erik got me a nifty dock for my iPod so that I can hook it up directly to the stereo in the living room. Some of the songs I listened to last night I hadn't even heard through "real" speakers -- just on my eMac or the headphones of my iPod, so that was illuminating, to say the least.

Everyone was really excited about No Return finally being in print, so that was fun, too. I just wish I could have enjoyed the moment a bit more. Oh, well.

On the bright side, I did have a dream last night where I was kissing Patrick Dempsey. OK, it wasn't really Patrick Dempsey, but some guy in my dream who looked just like him. And he was a good kisser. ;-)
