...when you're glad Christmas is over. :-P

Seriously, I had a nice time and everything, but what with all the running around and the food preparation and house clean-up and all that jazz, I'm just happy I don't have to deal with this crap for another year. It's probably going to take me that long to recover.

Haha. We didn't have a family gathering this year, we just went to an aunt's house and ate some Mexican food and donuts XD ... but even so, I'm glad its over cuz its such a hassle either way. <_<

Were you hostess for a crowd?

It just seems like a lot of hassle for only one day!

Dinner for six. We had a goose, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, salad, rolls, and veggies. Everything but the salad and rolls was made from scratch. On top of all that I got kitchen duty. Basically, I was on my feet/in the kitchen from about noon until nine, with a brief respite where we actually sat down to eat. Oh, and this was after working the day before and also making breakfast for Erik and his frigging kid, who was staying with us for a week (thank God she's going home tonight). Then it was back to work the next day, because I'm new on the job and therefore can't take any vacation time until my first six months are up (which won't be until early April).

Maybe I'm just cranky because Kate's been staying with us, and therefore I haven't been getting any. :-P

Great meal, btw! Turkey is so overdone - goose is a much nicer bird.

As soon as Kate is out the door, get yourself a good skronking and all will be well again!

Well, I feel much better now. :-P

You're right about turkey -- I never much cared for it, although we've done it both on our smoker and on the rotisserie on our barbecue, and it's very tasty that way. But the goose was fabulous, so I'm glad we decided to be different this year.
