OK, America...
Sep. 24th, 2008 01:52 pm...don't fall for another transparent ploy by the Republicans to make them look like the good guys when the truth of the matter is that McCain stole the idea for scaling back campaigning because of the current economic crisis from Obama (Obama's people called McCain's offices at 8:30 this morning to make the suggestion. At 2:30, McCain's camp came out with the announcement about postponing the debates and stopping the campaign).
I've been doing a lot of reading about this election. Frankly, while I'll admit we're in the shitter, I think McCain is trying to postpone the debates because he's going to get his ass handed to him by Obama, especially in the debate this Friday, which would have focused on economic policy.
Gee, Senator McCain, we've had candidates campaign during wartime and other times of crisis. You postponed the RNC because of a hurricane that turned out to be a whole lot of nothing much. Do you really think most rational people are going to see this as anything but a desperate attempt to avoid a debate that's going to make you look like the clueless blowhard you really are?
ETA: Someone on jezebel.com referred to this as McCain's "Wall Street Ate My Homework" moment. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
ETA2: "The debate should take place as scheduled," Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in an interview with NPR to be broadcast this afternoon. "We have to be able to do a couple of things at once. That's what leadership requires."
