christinex1001Well, the party went off without a hitch, despite getting clobbered by biology the morning of (gee, I really enjoy being a girl...meh). As usual, I didn't get nearly as many pictures as I would have liked, but I think the only way to get around that is to either enlist someone else to be the event photographer, or win the Lotto so I can just hire some caterers so I'm not stuck in the gorram kitchen for half the party.
Here's the banner I made for the invitations. Of course stinking Evite shrank it down so you could barely see what it was, but I liked it.
Here's a shot of the living room. The reason it looks so empty is that everyone was out on the deck and in the backyard. Makes sense -- that's where the booze was.
My friend Kim put together the greatest Kaylee costume. Her father and brother run a military museum out here in the San Gabriel Valley (if you've seen a tank in a TV show or movie, it probably came from the museum), so it was easy for her to get her hands on the jumpsuit. Her husband Troy had on a Wash-inspired shirt, and that's Simon over there to the right and Jayne directly behind them.
Of course the hookah had to make a repeat appearance, although it was being pretty temperamental. They got it sorted out by the end of the evening, though. And Erik got his own two-pipe hookah as a birthday present, so we're going to have fun playing with that (we'll get takeout from the local Mediterranean place, then come back and eat on the deck whilst listening to this ginormous Middle Eastern music playlist I've put together).
Wish there were more, but there's only so much a girl can do by herself. Also, I had a new camera I really hadn't used before, so trying to figure it out while "elevated" on sangria wasn't the easiest thing in the world, either. ;-)
