I just got an email from the webmistress at Sycophant Hex letting me know I was now a validated author and will no longer have to worry about my submissions languishing in the queue for endless days while they look for boo-boos. This is a nice feeling, because I always felt bad about that lag time at SH. If people were reading my stories there, they'd be getting the updates at least a week after the latest chapter had already been posted on ff.n or Fiction Alley. The bummer is that I guess there's a computer glitch with Ashwinder (the Hermione/Snape archive), so those stories will still go to the queue, but I've been assured they'll be uploaded as soon as an admin sees them and realizes they don't have to be proofread.

A minor victory, but these days I'll take what I can get. ;-)

Yay to validation! I'm a bit grumpy with the mods over there - I was validated for years, being one of the very fist authors when the site opened up. Then my validation mysteriously went bye-bye and I had a helluva time posting my Sirius fic - it really chapped my ass. I'm not complaining, it is a great archive for good HPVerse...but my experience was a bit off.

It's strange that they would do that, but I've given up trying to figure out the ways in which mods work. Right now I'm trying to decide whether to keep posting at Petulant Poetess or not -- I discovered the archive fairly recently, but man, are they correction-happy over there. And some of the corrections have flat out contradicted the rules I follow (Chicago Manual of Style). I think they're based in the UK, and possibly that's why, but as someone who's worked as a professional editor for many years, I get annoyed when people pull out commas that are perfectly correct and are necessary or add ones that need to be there. Meh.

I, also, tried PP and was completely and totally and without chance of ever changing my opinion put off the site by the wildly out of control red editors pen. It was so laughably outrageous that after my firt email attempt at dialouging the problem with the "editor" I gave up in spectacular ranting style. I KNOW how to write. I don't need an editor or a beta. PP is ridiculous and the level of fics on the site nowhere close to being as good as they think their archive is.

I have managed to get some very, very nice reviews and no editing bullshit at wwww.grangerenchanted.com - not sure if any of your stuff fits their parameters, but they have great readers!

Ah, good to know it's not just me who thinks they have their heads firmly up their arses, then.

I started posting there because I'd heard the archive mentioned on the WIKTT Yahoo group and thought I'd give it a try, but it's just not worth the angst, frankly.

I'll try grangerenchanted.com -- my current WIP is a Hermione/Snape fic told from Hermione's POV, so it should work just fine over there. Thanks for the rec!
