Nov. 20th, 2009 09:06 pmOK, not so much in terms of my word count. Got in a little over 3K today and hope to do the same tomorrow and Sunday. If I can pull it off, I might hit 50K by the end of the weekend. If not, I'm still in really good shape.

I don't know how many of you have heard about Harlequin's decision to open what amounts to a vanity publishing wing of the corporation, but let's just say that the blogosphere shitstorm had been completely unreal -- and highly entertaining. There are links all over the place, but really, I think Fandom Wank has the best writeup because not only are the comments priceless, but they've thoughtfully assembled all the most pertinent links in one central place. I mean, you know stuff is going down when Nora Roberts is arguing with a self-published author ad nauseum in the comments at Smart Bitches, Trashy Books. (BTW, Nora seems like a really awesome person, and I wished I liked her writing more...but I just can't get past the darn head-hopping. Her plots seem interesting, and the writing itself beyond the p.o.v. issues pretty great, but for me it's like trying to ignore a ginormous zit in the middle of a supermodel's face. But anyway, I digress.)
Also, Harlequin, when the RWA, the MWA, and the SFWA (all professional writers' groups) collectively say you suck, you know what?
You probably do.
